Maybe you're the one who needs to realise that Twitter isn't real life? None of Trump's claims made on Twitter have been adequately backed up in his legal challenges, based on the fact that no court has accepted them. There's undoubtedly a reason for this. The courts are where real life happens.

I, along with millions of Americans, believe there was election fraud. Possibly, enough in some of the big cities, to swing one or more states.
I also find it interesting that you - a person who holds most things political in high cynicism - suddenly has a solid and rock-like faith in election integrity, and no shenanigans.

I'm sure there's plenty of fraud going on in minor ways in lots of places. I struggle with the claim that it's all on one side. I see no reason to believe that the followers of one particular individual would be by nature any more honest than the followers of another. I also see absolutely no reason to believe what Donald Trump says. He has a long history of saying things that aren't true going back decades.
I'm also a supporter of voter ID, as it happens, as long as it is implemented in a way not likely to disenfranchise groups of the electorate.
This isn't about people not feeling comfortable with the electoral process. It's about Donald Trump's inability to cope with losing. Sure, he hasn't been treated fairly by the media, and the Russia investigation should have been halted after a few short weeks. He's still a deeply flawed individual who has allowed his own personal shortcomings to undermine the country he has sworn to serve.
All in my opinion, obviously.

Incidentally, the above is a fairly charitable interpretation of Trump's behaviour. The other alternative is that it's all about branding, and this is a cynical move to cement his position in the public consciousness as somebody who 'never loses', and gives him an opportunity to fleece the gullible. I actually think this is a better explanation of what he's done.
Or maybe he just wants to cling to power.

The good thing is that, despite the fact that it can turn into a sewer, it's become the de-facto place for breaking news. I have about 50 pages I look at, and half of them are news, and half are random stupid/funny shit.

There was minor fraud on both sides. That is clear. That also happens every single election.

The "news" is a churn, and most of it is opinion, with no more real significance than our daily banter. Most if it is simply not worth the worry or angst it generates. I'm as guilty as anybody and the wife has to give me an occasional nudge to bring me back to non-Washington bubble reality.
Whether I agree with the truncated thoughts espoused in a Tweet or not, does the platform actually perform a function that makes the country better? Twitter was definitely a double-edged sword for Trump...His best conduit to the American people and his worst enemy...

To be clear, I agree with you about antifa, they are much much much worse and more violent group. I was surprised and glad not to have seen much in graffiti or distraction at the Capitol overall, and honestly, half the people in the chambers looked surprised to even be there.

If this was really about election integrity, why was President Trump not investigating Florida? Ohio? Texas? Etc. Maybe President elect Biden won those states?????
Is there some fraud? Yes! Does it occur on both sides? Yes!
Is there some sort of giant conspiracy the involves hundreds (thousands?) of people, everyone from unpaid volunteers to Republican state officials to US Supreme Court judges to who knows who else? Bawaaaah!!!!!
BOTH sides are not 100% clean in an election, but nowhere near the amount some people say.
Great example is the recent President Trump call with Georgia officials
Trump: there is defiantly something wrong with the voting machines. they’re obviously corrupt and in favor of Biden.
Georgia official: we rechecked the machines, and they came out good. As a further back up, we manually HAND counted the results, and they matched up perfectly with the original count on the machines.
Trump: No, you are wrong. I know I am right.

Me too. I dont tweet. And no followers obviously. But I find it so fast on the draw, that if I wanted to know something long before it’s on regular outlets, I check Twitter.
Having said that I think half of my followees are legit sources of information and the other half are the ones at real fringes, just to see what people are capable of believing
Some of the ones I follow are: a true flat earth believer. A couple of Neo Nazis. Some trumpists that are so far out there, they make Larry and jolly seem like left wing progressives, and other odd sorts. Lots of anti Vaxxers and COVID deniers.
People are interesting. Strange and interesting.

I agree political twitter is a shit show.
But twitter is what you make it. What you see on your timeline depends on who you follow.
You can make it politics free. You can just follow a narrowly tailored list of people and have it be focused on (say) history or archeology or filmmaking or whatever your interest might be.

I don’t use it either. I only allow so many interruptions.
I turn off all notifications as well. I make sure I actively go to a place to be interrupted. This place too serves as a good curator of content.
Jon’s suggestion to me to stop watching CNN was one of the better pieces of advice I got in 2020. I stopped my NYT as well. It works almost as well as meditation.
