I don't believe that Mr. Trump has ever said that there would be anything other than an orderly transition

I think there are many who actually believed that would not happen

Trump promises 'orderly transition' on Jan. 20 after Electoral College results certified

President Trump promised an "orderly transition" on Jan. 20 after Congress early Thursday certified the Electoral College vote that gave Democrat Joe Biden his presidential victory.

The certification came after a day in Washington, D.C., that was marred by pro-Trump protesters storming the U.S. Capitol.

Dan Scavino, the White House deputy chief of staff, posted a statement from Trump on Twitter that called for calm in the early hours of Thursday morning.

"Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th," the statement read. "I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!"

A little late for that. Maybe he meant "mostly orderly transition"

When Trump rallied the audience and when someone didn’t make sure the Capitol was secure, Trump owned the outcome. When he didn’t say it was a tragic outcome for one of our top national symbols and take accountability for what happened he wrote his own final chapter of his Presidency. He’s lucky that there isn’t enough time to remove him.

That being said, his video today finally felt like a normal, presidential speech. Almost like a 4th grader who has come out of time-out and has to apologize for what he said earlier.

cnn is famous for their "refuses to commit" headlines.

They use that same tactic for all kinds of things.

They try to stuff words in his mouth and if he refuses to repeat them back exactly according to their rules then he "refuses to ..."

An orderly transition comes after the election results have been announced. Not after you have exhausted all possibility of hanging on. He could have contested the results while still participating in the transition.

That seems like a good way to look at it. 👍
