'Butty' is Lancashire slang for 'sandwich'. It's also possibly how a Welshman might refer to a particularly attractive sheep.

When I was an intern, our service had a nephrologist on staff who was known to eat interns for breakfast. He was uncompromising, strict and unforgiving. He was also a good doc. Anyhow, if you presented a case on morning rounds and you say that you "deferred" the rectal exam, he would scream at you: "YOU CALL YOURSELF A DOCTOR AND YOU DIDN'T PUT YOUR FINGER UP THERE????"
