If this was collectively the worst year most of us have lived through

Then we've had it pretty damn good.

Agreed. Can’t speak for others, obviously, but my year was fortunately/luckily great:
- Son born
- Job change that’ll allow remote work
- Lots of time at home with my daughter, often on walks to the creek, all spring and summer
- No impact to income, actually the opposite (was able to do some extra 1099 work on top of normal job)
-
I know I can't complain.
- Left a job that was literally destroying my health.
- Bought myself a shitload of time to figure out next steps.
- Got off my ass and got started on almost everything on my "I really should do/try this" list. Got a lot better with a whole lot of things this way.
- Had the best holiday season I've had in at least five years.
- Got back to reading Dragonlance.

DUDE...
It's one of the best moves I've made. And yes I'm fully aware of how nutters that sounds. Don't care, still true.

In terms of the world, yeah, sure. In terms of my own life? Not even a close second of third.
Let me point out that there are still a few days left in which things could go completely south for you. "Man soll den Tag nicht vor dem Abend loben", as we say over here.
