Apple AirPods

I never bought a pair before. I thought they looked weird (the white sticks out of the ear) and thought they would fall out easily.
Got some recently at a company party. I have to admit, they stay in the ear (even though they feel like they could fall out at any time...they just don't), and the audio quality is really, really good. I'm impressed.
I have other wireless headphones as well, but I have to admit....they function very, very well.

I agree the sound quality is fantastic. And the noise cancellation is a marvel, especially on airplanes or other mass transit. For me they do fall out sometimes though. You have to get lucky by having a correct ear shape for one of the attachment sizes. I don’t think I do.

I have what are known as “sprinter’s ears”, which lay flat against my head, providing almost no wind resistance. This aerodynamic ear shape is one of the reasons I run so incredibly fast.
In the sprinter’s ear community, we sometimes post pictures of people whose ears stick out from their heads and giggle at them. I can barely imagine how slow those losers run lol.

What are the other reasons?

@klaus I’m a double amputee with titanium foot-shaped blades attached below the knees. We found that by extending the foot to a length surpassing what would be naturally attainable, the leverage of my strides could be enhanced, without the need for my body to utilize blood flow or glucose to power muscle to achieve those mechanics.

I used to use a pair of Apple’s 1st generation AirPods regularly, they fit and stay in my ears just fine, and I very much looked forward to active noise cancellation back then. But the batteries deteriorated over time, to the point where I had to keep one pod in one ear while putting the other pod back into the case to recharge, all within the same hour-long conference call; worse when I had to do back-to-back conference calls.
There is no true “battery replacement” service for AirPods. Whatever Apple calls “battery replacement” for the AirPods, they basically swap your old AirPods with new ones, and the cost was very high, close to buying new ones anyway. The olds ones just become electronic waste.
Between the short batter life, the monetary cost, and the environmental cost, I just stopped using AirPods and went back to using wired ear pods.
