Joni Kay Ernst is an American politician and veteran serving as the junior United States Senator for Iowa since 2015. A Republican, she served in the Iowa State Senate from 2011 to 2014. Ernst served in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1993 to 2015, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

Oh, as long as she served in the military, then it's totally OK then.

Disgusting:
My gut reaction based on the headlines was the same, but if I understand correctly, the main point is that she suggested that hospitals are miss-classified some deaths as COVID deaths, which may or may not be true but is in any case not a direct contradiction to being vaccinated.
-
I wouldn’t want a political test before vaccination anyway, I just shared that because it came across my feed.

This is the obvious truth.

To be clear, my disgust at her getting the vaccine is unrelated to any statement she made, that just happens to be the form in which it came across my feed.
-
It could, but that is no justification for vaccinating 535 members of the legislative branch when 75 year olds wait. It is unconscionable.

@jon-nyc I agree in sense of who “needs” or “deserves” a vaccine. However, extremes from both parties have a pretty strong anti-vax element, that the role modeling here may help mitigate.
I agree with Rich. A friend from the US sent me a similar thing about Senator Rubio from Florida getting the vaccine. I’m actually OK with the people from Congress getting it, as it may help change some minds of those who are not thinking about getting it.

Congressman Brian Mast, (R) Fl:
“Congress needs to stop treating itself as a special political class, and the mere suggestion that members of Congress are in any way more important than the very people who gave us the privilege of serving in Congress is appalling,”
