Now, since Trump is mad that Barr couldn't find any fraud and didn't tell the world about investigating Hunter, he's a total turd ball, and the Trumpsters fall right in line. Now they despise him. I think I’ve read every interpretation of why Barr resigned. The only thing that struck me is that literally anyone could pick their favorite reason and start the viral spread and sit back and wait and hope they got enough dopamine hits.

Maybe he in fact did not want to be bothered with all this through Christmas. He knew what he was getting into when he took the position, and I think he did an admirable job. But at some point the game is over and its time to go home.

I agree. He may or may not have a current good relation with President Trump. But, there is only a month left, so why not take some time off.

A manager at one of the places I worked finished his last day before retirement, after about 20 years, by saying 'I'm just popping out for lunch', and then never coming back. He didn't tell anybody he was retiring, he just left at lunchtime.
A certain Russian colleague of repute has a photograph of the guy's gravestone in his drawer. He says it's to remind himself that the guy is really dead. It's fair to say he wasn't overly popular.
