Too Stupid to Organize Conference Calls

Stunning incompetence:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/15/us/politics/trump-coronavirus-economy-panel.html
Some business leaders had no idea they were included until they heard that their names had been read in the Rose Garden on Tuesday night by President Trump. Some of those who had agreed to help said they received little information on what, exactly, they were signing up for. And others who were willing to connect with the White House could not participate in hastily organized conference calls on Wednesday because of scheduling conflicts and technical difficulties.
In short, the rollout of what the president referred to last week as his “Opening Our Country Council” was as confusing as the process of getting there. -

Hey, Vince McMahon is on the council, so that gives me comfort.
Let’s get Hulk Hogan in the State Department in 2021 if Trump gets re-elected.

Wow. Not surprising... he's probably scrambling to create or reference any group/council he can point to when he has to admit (soon) that we are not opening up by
Easter,May 1, ...... it'll probably be phased openings starting in June, getting much better in July, then holding our breaths (literally?) this fall/winter. -

I was looking for the NYT piece on those that did attended and what happened. Got a link?

It was a very, very long list. I heard him reading it.
Might be a good idea for those who want to open back up earlier to present some sort of plan of how they will maintain safe distance/isolation in the workplace and have it reviewed on state level.

No matter what Mr. Trump, or any Council, says, the government monitoring of workplaces will continue for years.
Remember wage & price controls? A nightmare of government oversight.
There are probably a lot of people ready, willing and able to go safely back to work right now or very soon. They should be encouraged to do so.
Unfortunately, I suspect there is a sizable group that may never be able to re-enter the workplace because of this virus. They will demand a lot of attention.

The number of organizations and healthcare organizations meaningfully involved is very impressive. The NYT article obviously makes a few good points but completely misses the great stuff that happened. We know now who doesn’t want to be involved go forward so NYT did the WH a favor.
Healthcare in particular has some of the CEOs of the biggest and if you tune into their response they are grateful and excited.

The task force also includes all GOP senators, except Mott Romney. Kinda petty, no?

Positively Trumpian.
Face it, Mitt voted to impeach. It ain't gonna be unicorns and sunshine from the White House.

The guy who turned around more businesses than the rest of the Senate combined was rejected by the serial bankrupter of businesses. Makes sense.

Jon, you damn well know better than that.

I can’t say I counted, but it’s likely literally true. The guy did spend 20 years in private equity.
And obviously the part about Trump is true.

No, the part about Trump isn't true either.
Romney didn't "turn companies around" - he bought them at distress rates, raided their assets, sold things off in pieces, and put thousands of people out of work in the process. Trump hit a bump at a time when a lot of businesses were hitting the same bump, and had to put a few businesses he had into bankruptcy. Not an uncommon thing to do. That's what it's there for. He has never personally taken bankruptcy. Your characterization of things were dishonest at best, and you damn well know it.

You are counting the businesses that bought the right to use his brand and trying to hang their failure around his neck. You know better than that. He sold rights to his brand. He didn't start those businesses. Don't even try to tell me you didn't know that.

Larry and Bernie Sanders agree about private equity.

I imagine it takes a special kind of incompetence to bankrupt a casino.
New York State did it, sort of, with their off track betting business. In that case it was pure corruption.

Just be intellectually honest, Jon. The baseless Trump bashing by using dishonest characterization of the facts is getting tiresome.

I agree there is plenty of baseless Trump bashing but this doesn’t qualify. This is all literally true. Every single word.

No it doesn't. All you have to do is build one in a town called Atlantic City and then have the entire fucking town collapse. Stop with your bull shit.
