I was going to say the same thing.

Did you know that McFerrin did ALL the music on that song? It was all his voice.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Indeed I did. I watched several interviews of him back in the late 80s, early 90s. He was The Guy for awhile.

I don't know why, but my parents were slightly more adamant about my learning to swim as a kid than what might be considered normal. No big deal, maybe there were some articles churned out then about childhood drowning, who knows. Anyway they started me very early and made me keep up with it.

My dad took me. We'd drive 45 minutes away, through and around unincorporated towns, forests and the ass end of nowhere, to this mountain resort for the lessons. Where my dad tried to get a job when he first moved into the county, before my godfather introduced him to my mom. My dad showed up at the interview and they said they already filled the position, sorry. The next week, though, my dad saw the same want ad in the paper. He called the place up to ask what gives. They told him his hair was too damn long. He cut his hair and got the job.

Anyway, this was a drive we took for a few years, just my dad and I in the summers. There was only one radio station we could get along the drive, and its selection was rather predictable. For years, when it was time to drive home, I'd still be kinda soggy in the car, sit on my towel and McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy" would be on the radio. Could damn near set your watch to it.

Not a story that has much of a point except to say as memories go, it'd be easy to do worse.

          Please love yourself.

I thought the Marley thing was interesting, but it was more internet bullshit. McFerrin wrote the song 7 years after Bob died.
