We've been by her side every day for the past several weeks. She died peacefully. Not sure why I'm bringing it up here, other than to say that a wonderful woman and mother is gone, she made a difference in this world in her own way. Very sad, but at least she is not suffering any longer. Wish you all could have known her, you would have relished in her stories of being in Germany during WWII. Her memoirs read like fiction in terms of what she went through, but for her it was the reality. As she would say so often, she can point to many times where it was pure luck that she made it through, met my dad near the end of the war as he was a wounded soldier, and how they ended up coming to America. And, how they built a successful life here while being staunch Estonians always. Minu kaunis ema on nuud lainud.

How sad. I'm sorry for your hurting, Rainman. It will never stop hurting, but you'll be able to deal with it better.

Cherish her memories, her recollections and honor her life.

        Bless her.

They say you don't truly become a man, until your father dies. When your mother dies, there are days when you feel like a lost little boy, badly in need of a hug.

              Either experience hurts.

God Bless you and your family. May He grant you comfort in your time of loss and mourning.

Rainman, I am so sorry. So hard to find the words. I hope you have loved ones to comfort you, and I hope you can feel that we are keeping you close right now, and that you can lean on us if you need to.

Oh, Rainman, I am so sorry for your loss. Yes, I would have liked to know her. She sounds wonderful, and she really did change the world in many ways. She raised a great son, and that's no small thing.

I look forward to getting to know her through your stories in the future. I hope your family shares many of her stories together, so everyone can perhaps hear something they hadn't known before about her. That would be a treasure.

                                      Rainman has a brother?

Sorry - just hoping to make you crack a smile. Anyway I agree - share a story or two about her. Maybe we should have a ‘share a story about your mom’ thread.
