The wife is filling out some family stuff and wanted to know vocation and "special interests". There is a lot of things I've done for a dollar or just done for fun.

If you had a line or three for a synopsis of those things for your life, what would you write?

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Do you mean events or hobbies? What would your list look like? (Trying to get a bead on the format here.)

      Please love yourself.

              I’d say:

              Piano
              Reading, especially history, politics, philosophy
              Traveling

              Only non-witches get due process.

Okay. I'll limit it to stuff I was actually into, not one-offs.

                Vocations:
Delivery - did this for many years
Line cook - honestly, I learned a lot doing this. My knifework is passable, and I know how to understand most recipes thanks to this job. (I don't mean measuring ingredients, I mean seeing how it's supposed to work and getting the process and proportions right in your own kitchen.) I neglected those skills for decades but I'm using them again now, because why the hell not. Trying to get better.

                Passions/hobbies:
Bikes - I can build my own from the ground up and have done so with several. Did MTB in high school, got into singlespeeds (not fixies) after college. Still love those.
                Reading/writing - read a lot, wrote a lot.
Hiking - I'm better than average. I know how to pack for myself and can deal with moderate STHF situations. I need to do a massive thru-hike though. (Not the AT.)
Skiing - I was actually really damn good at this. My cousin competed but I'd beat him sometimes.
Computer programming - I've always loved this shit. Still write scripts and subroutines regularly to save time.
Photography - was into it in high school without ever realizing it. Took journalism classes every year, learned how to wind, develop and print my own film. A buddy of mine had a darkroom in his basement; spent a lot of time in there trying shit out. Another thing I completely neglected for decades, but I'm back into it again. Digital, though. I don't see the point in doing digital scans of film.
Archery - did that for several years as a kid. Yeah I know, random. I liked to go to a buddy's house in the middle of BFE and see how far away I could get from stop signs and still nail 'em. Makes the best sound ever.
Organized sports - Did baseball, soccer, XC. I'm just ass at them. Complete ass.

                Please love yourself.

If we’re adding vocations I’d say finance, business strategy, and (newly) rare disease foundations.

I’ve mentioned before how I’ve known Aqua since 2000. Lived with him for a few years (in college and after) too. His list of accolades (jobs experiences, hobbies, just knowledge of things in general) is mind blowing. It’s hard to describe but it’s one of those things where I could come to him with nearly any topic for advice and odds are he has some sort of expertise in it. Writing, hiking, books, movies, building computers, building bikes, French basketball. It’s insane.

                        Passions:
Jazz. It's God's music, whatever they tell you.
Chess. I'm not very good, but I love the game - watching it and learning about it
Music (all the bits that aren't jazz). I used to be a pretty decent sax player. Currently relearning clarinet - it's quieter
Sci-fi - it comes and goes. Currently not reading much. Don't seem to have the energy.
Do computer games count? I've loved them since they started - everything from text adventures to PS4.

                        Basically, I'm a dork loner.

                        I was only joking

For me, it’s basically golf, piano, movies. Honorable mentions being travel, nature, and photography. Often those 3 going together.

                              1. It helps if you have no idea what the hell to focus on for 30+ years basically ever.
                              2. You know just as much random shit, jackass! Golf, movies, graphic design, movies, plano, basketball, goaliestuffs, movies, etc., etc.

No way. Not being modest either. You’re light years ahead. See? Even light years. I bet you could hit me with some profound astrophysics shit right now!

Honestly, if SHTF on a global level and we had to rebuild society and I had one hour to prepare, I would:

                                1. Download every episode of “How It’s Made”
                                2. Download Wikipedia
                                3. Make sure Aqua’s around

If you had to rebuild society from Aqua you could clone him and switch some chromosomes to get an army of aqua's sisters.

                                  Education is extremely important.

                                      I'm pretty sure it's Jon's secret fantasy

                                      I was only joking

                                        Been watching LSU destroy Vandy...

Vocations? Clinical lab, bench and management. POL consultant. Firearms dealer, custom reloader, amateur gunsmith. Brief fling at a low level in the retirement investment biz. Brief and odd jobs such as sawmill hand, utility man for a natural gas company, canned newsguy for a radio station, obituary writer and rodeo announcer.

Passions or hobbies? Hunter, gun and bow, or at least I did that for many years. Garbage can reader. Vegetable gardener. I enjoy history, particularly WW2. I like to learn old-time rural life skills, such riving shingles, splitting rails, food preservation, etc. Played high school ball and would have loved to have played college football, but my talent level bordered on barely adequate.
