The MSM is absolutely in the tank for Biden.
Fox isn’t. What’s your definition of MSM? How is the number one news network not main stream?

Old people have little to do with the mainstream.
-
Old people are the leading audience demographic for all cable news.
Occasionally it’s worth reminding everyone about the circularity of the charge “the MSM is in the tank for the Dems” when the functional definition of MSM is “Democratic-leaning media orgs”.

Popular culture and institutions, beyond corporate media explicitly catering to a political demographic, such as Fox or NewsMax, are in the tank for the left. But you know that. The point about "the MSM" and whether it's uniformly left leaning is pedantic.
-
Weren't we just being told how all the young people loved Tucker?
Obviously, Fox is part of the MSM. You can't repeatedly post how they've been shitting all over CNN for popularity, and then claim anything else.
-
It's a truism that corporate news outlets will exist for any widely held perspective. This does not mean that one cannot think coherently about the overall weight of cultural messaging (mainstream messaging) we're exposed to. An inability to admit that that messaging is dominated by the left, from grade schools to universities to corporate jobs to movies to music to TV to streaming services, is generally motivated by an unwillingness to admit that one has chosen the easy side, and joined the tribe of least resistance.
-
You’re still missing the point. You’re defining ‘main stream’ as left leaning. Sure. Ok. Fine. DOE through universities through corporate H.R. departments. We got it.
But then don’t think you’re making a point when you say “the main stream media is left leaning”.
-
Your point is not complicated and I'm not missing it. I'm claiming the weight of the culture that matters to people living in it, a culture that cannot be easily avoided, is weighted to the left. The existence of right leaning media which one can easily choose to completely ignore, does not refute that.

Yes, the messaging is currently dominated by the left. I'm sure it will swing back at some point. There have been plenty of periods where conservative values were accepted as the norm by the vast majority of people. As a liberal, I didn't much enjoy living in Margaret Thatcher's Britain, where pretty much all the newspapers were on her side, as was much of the establishment. Eventually, she was undone, not by some leftist conspiracy, but because regular middle class people got sick of her increasingly authoritative behaviour and lack of empathy for anybody who did not share her world view.
-
So the complaint is “left leaning media dominates”? Or maybe more precisely “dominant media is left wing!” How can that be true in a world where Fox is #1?

In other contexts, you're happy to admit that, for instance, 40 year olds aren't turning conservative like previous generations did. In other contexts, you're happy to admit that fox caters to old people who have little to no bearing on the culture that matters to those who are working within it. You are choosing selective ignorance here to pretend you have some sort of good point.

I don't think American popular culture has been largely conservative since before the Vietnam War. I don't anticipate that changing within my lifetime. It's only gotten more and more solidly leftist, galvanized to an extreme by the election of Donald Trump.

Be specific - what point am I pretending to be ignorant of?
-
I have been very specific. The culture we have to live in, from school to corporate jobs to mainstream entertainment, is dominated by the left, and the existence of completely ignorable partisan news outlets that cater to old people, does nothing to change that. I've said this three times now. I can't be more specific.
-
Ain't this the biggest bunch of horseshit you've ever seen?
The MSM (CBS, NBC, ABC) is not only left leaning, they're in the tank for Leftists. They make no effort to be otherwise. Hell, even FOX has its moments when it runs with the herd.
I'm sure we can trot out measured studies, graphs and diagrams, or we can try a novel idea...Watch or listen to the crap for 30 minutes a day a couple of times a week, for a month. If you can't figure it out after that, you're in denial, a partisan or dumber than a tree stump.
-
I haven’t pretended not to get that point, In fact I’ve conceded it throughout. Maybe “elite culture is in the tank for the dems” would make more sense and not be so circular.
But the phrase used here was “main stream media”. The media landscape is different and not nearly as lopsided. Cable media is bifurcated into partisan left and partisan right. The (by far) dominant network in the US is partisan right.

If you think Fox is left wing, it's possible that your measuring device may be out of calibration.
Unless 'Leftist' is now taken to mean 'Anybody who says anything less than grotesquely sycophantic about you-know-who'.

I've worked with people who act like that towards senior management. What's really disappointing is that it seems to work.
