Right? The SUV list looks remarkably similar.
-
Pretty much.
Today's automatics have twice the years of the older transmissions and probably more computer power than the space shuttle (the latter is an exaggeration. Maybe.)
And when they break, almost nobody can rebuild them back to factory spec, and it'll cost you four grand or more.
-
I hate automatics. Nothing better than a nice shift stick.

How many people any more of the younger generation know how to drive a manual car? I think it is still more common in Europe and Asia, but even decreasing there. I believe that I read somewhere that only like 5% or less of cars in the US are made with manual now.
In Taiwan, your driving license will indicate if you took your car test with an automatic or a manual. If you took with a automatic, you are not allowed to drive a manual (or could get a ticket). Of course, if you took with a manual, you can drive either.
(PS My license was learned on a manual. LOL)

Shucks, get it rolling and I can drive a manual without a clutch...
-
I thought this was an Aqua’s Sister Thread.

Ever done a manual without a clutch?
-
Actually for her, being driven is automatic,
-
No, I am confident that Aqua’s sister and std transmission go hand in hand.

My "stick driving skilz" are sorely lacking. I've never owned a manual transmission car (Mrs. George wouldn't abide it), and the last time I drove a stick was in...1980, when I rented a U-Haul for our move out of the city into the 'burbs.
My current car (Have I mentioned I love my A4?) has wheel-mounted paddles for shifting, should I want to use them. I almost never do.

Easy to do in low torque situations. But hard when, say, you pull a big trailer or drive uphill.
Probably couldn't do it uphill, but I cut my teeth on a 270 Cummins, splittin' gears on a 13 speed Fuller. I can power shift one with a load.

Ever done a manual without a clutch?
Ever blown a tranny?

I taught all 3 of my girls how to drive a stick shift. The oldest took to it like a duck to water. The twins seem to have too much anxiety and hated it. We have 4 vehicles in the family and only one is stick now.
TG, my wife wanted my girls to pass their driver's tests with a stick shift, just like she did!

Nah, that's three on the tree not the bush.
