Twitter reminds me of horshack on welcome back Kotter where everyone races to be the first on what they just heard to meet their ego need of going the most viral and being the most cognoscenti and there is no consequence if they are less reliable than the weatherman.

I like how marginal celebrities with some name recognition will sometimes sell retweets at 50 or so bucks per.

I went to school with John Fountain. Not a half-bad high school wide receiver.

        Don't think he's famous, though.

What’s truly funny is that after everything that has happened in this country your choice for President is still one of two old white men.

Yes but only one side considers that to be a painful phenotypic compromise, to be done away with sooner rather than later.

              https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-virus-spread-white-house/2020/10/02/38c5b354-04cc-11eb-b7ed-141dd88560ea_story.html

On Thursday, Hicks’s diagnosis was kept secret from the public and even from some of her own colleagues. Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany did not know Hicks had the virus when she briefed reporters about 11 a.m., but learned midafternoon, as the president was preparing to depart for another campaign fundraiser, this one at his private golf club in Bedminster, N.J.
              ...
Trump’s decision to proceed with the fundraiser after the known infection of Hicks, someone with whom he had extended recent close contact, went against the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other public health authorities.
              ...
“They knew she was positive and they still let Marine One take off with the president. Why didn’t they ground him? That was the break in protocol,” said Kavita Patel, a practicing physician and former health adviser in the Obama White House. “The CDC’s protocol clearly states that as soon as anybody, i.e. Hope Hicks, was confirmed positive, anybody she came into close contact with for at least 48 hours prior should have at least isolated.”
              ...
In Bedminster, Trump held a roundtable fundraiser indoors where donors were sitting around the table with him. Masks were not worn in the room. ...
              ...

So egregiously irresponsible towards their staff, their donors, their supporters, the Secret Service agents and law enforcement personnel who worked to protect them, the food and hospitality services workers who work their events -- and the family and loved ones of these people.

Kudos to the Washington Compost...They found a doctor that told them what they wanted to hear.

Go peddle your papers elsewhere, lad...

You have a staff member who tested positive, you notify the rest of your staff so they can take proper precautions. You come into contact with one who tested positive, you go into isolation.

To not notify even your own staff is negligent. To go out to meet lots of other people is irresponsible. This does not change regardless of whether it was reported by national press or a local grade school newspaper.

@jon-nyc I did not think he looked to good in that video he made on Twitter prior to leaving.

But, I am sure if I were President, I would have made sure that I did everything I could to walk to the helicopter on my own.

Speedy recovery to him I hope. Not good to be sick.

Better to be seen walking out of the White House than carried out via ambulance. There is a non trivial chance he is in significant jeopardy and from a national security point of view it would be wise to give folks more planning time.

While I was reading that tweet saying he had needed oxygen, his doctors were holding a press conference saying he had not needed any oxygen, and was up walking around and breathing just fine.

Conley wouldn’t answer specific questions, however, about what temperature Trump reached when he had a fever, nor would he say when the president had last tested negative. He danced around whether and when the president had received supplemental oxygen, repeatedly saying he was not on oxygen “right now” and later adding, in response to a reporter’s question, that Trump hadn’t received any oxygen on Friday “with the team, when we were all here,” apparently meaning at Walter Reed.

The communications from the doctors today has been amateur hour. The Walter Reed docs and Trump’s personal docs gave conflicting updates.

I can understand not giving all the details of his health because of national security concerns or something - but they’re giving conflicting and open ended info.

(WH docs say he’s doing well, WR docs saying he vitals have been bad, it was implied that he was diagnosed on Wed but not clarified, etc.)
