Something I haven’t thought of before - your AI agent decides on its own to do a task that costs you $700 in less than a minute.

    Oops.

Ha! Somewhat related, I had a client ask about the future of using AI to build something but how expensive it might be. I told him I'm not an expert like @horace but you can probably tell the AI what your budget is so your web product might be really basic, or could be very expensive and complicated.

“If that $500,000 engineer did not consume at least $250,000 worth of tokens, I am going to be deeply alarmed.”

"While doing a minor bugfix of my DAO layer, Opus built an uncalled-for test that ran a 100k iteration stress-test on my DB, printing a trillion lines of useless noise, which Opus happily loaded into context. 31 MILLION TOKENS FOR A THREE MINUTE BUGFIX."

did not understand one word in those sentences. well, maybe a few words here and there, "while doing", got that. i think i know what a "test" is. "printing" yes i know what that is. "happily" what i feel occasionally, other than that, nada.

Probably just a small bump on the road to world domination, like that one time when wireless carriers had to drop their unlimited broadband data plans.

I think the market will eventually find a middle ground for all of this.

Wait, Microsoft is using Claude Code and not their own OpenAI Codex? That's unexpected...
