    At 92nd st Y with Bootsy. Smallish venue.

          Very good. I’m not as familiar with book II, it’s so much more expansive and difficult-sounding than book I. He used quite a bit of pedal.

            I know you are not necessarily the biggest Bach fan, and neither am I.

            I find some of the fugues particularly annoying after a while.

            But you enjoyed it, obviously.

                Good background multitasking music, but a lot for active listening all the way through.

                All from memory I assume? My old teacher played that same program.

                  No he read from the soft cover Henle edition. He had a page turner on the stage with him.

                  Funny thing was, at first he was turning his own pages despite the young man there next to him. I was thinking ‘what is he, your emotional support human?’ Then I realized he turned his own pages if they were between pieces or movements and the other guy turned them if they were in the middle of a piece.

                    I saw him once before, at Carnegie hall, 15-20 years ago. He played Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes.

                    Come to think of it it was probably 20 years ago, since I remember I was working on them (well maybe half of them) at the time.
