I'm also wondering since it was previously ruled that he can do pretty much anything as long as it is "official". "Shame if something happened to that 'lifetime appointment' - since you know, like if that lifetime was shortened...."

There really could not be much of any other reason for it. Too late. You appointed them for life.

A good case can be made for the elimination/modification of birthright citizenship; however, the Constitution clearly does not permit it. The framers made it possible to amend the Constitution - and this would one of those places where that might make sense. Explained to the public, I think a majority of people of both parties would support it, but that's not where we are these days. If Trump is supporting it, then it must be opposed. Same would be true if Kamala had proposed it, not going to happen.

I agree. There's a case for it, but not by decree. Don't want to do the work? You don't want the change bad enough.

I wouldn’t support changing it. I am uncomfortable with the idea of people being born stateless because of something their parents did.

Especiallly in the shadow of an administration that talks about deporting 100MM people which gets you pretty deep into the citizenship rolls.

My daughter was born here and got it automatically. What we didn't know until recently is that she is also automatically both a British and Canadian citizen due to our status as dual-national Canadian/Brits - so she's a threefer.
