I just had my first penny shortage cash surcharge…

So I just paid cash at Costco… Change due was $15.52… They had no pennies, so gave me $15.50 in change. I paid a $.02 penalty for paying by cash.

If a store wants to offer me a cash discount by rounding up, that’s up to them. But this was a cash surcharge… Effectively a fee for using the legal tender of the land.
