I just had my first penny shortage cash surcharge…
-
So I just paid cash at Costco… Change due was $15.52… They had no pennies, so gave me $15.50 in change. I paid a $.02 penalty for paying by cash.

Hopefully, if the change was $15.53, you would have gotten $15.55.
I had heard that 8,9,0,1,2 are suppoded to go to zero
3,4,5,6,7 go to 5 -

3,4,5,6,7 go to 5If a store wants to offer me a cash discount by rounding up, that’s up to them. But this was a cash surcharge… Effectively a fee for using the legal tender of the land.

Are you the guy who stands at the checkout digging out skanky old dollar bills to pay for his shit?
Because if so, you were under-charged.

Their system punished me for using the legal tender of the land! And is trying to force me to use Credit Cards m, which is against my religion!
