Rwanda recently changed its entry rules, such that all countries around the world have visa free (or visa on arrival) entry.

    Start planning your trip!!!!

We were there twice in 2025. Beautiful country.
Clean, good mainroads, decent hotels and b&b's.
Will be going back in september.

@Wim Very cool. You are the first person i "know" that has been there. Obviously, you dont feel that there are any issues in safety to travel around?

It’s unfortunate there are so many stunning places in this beautiful world that are risky to go to. Rwanda perhaps not included.

            @taiwan_girl Never had safety issues.
We were just asked once to stop taking pictures of Lake Kivu near the border with Congo (Bukavu).
Probably because there just had been serious fights during previous days between M23 and other factions.

Any update on heather Rwanda has gotten off the “shithole country” list?
I heard Rwanda has cut a deal to accept deported migrants, so it’s possible that it has gotten off that list, but there is no reporting on it one way or anyther. 🤷

@Axtremus Rwanda is not really on speaking terms with the USA for the moment.
Trump badly wants the minerals that up till now were going to Ruanda so he literally menaced president Kagame of Ruanda under the pretence that Ruanda doesn't stick to the peace deal that he brokered recently.
Pretty complicated situation because China is/was still involved in that region.

BTW, Ruanda never was on the shithole list.

Ten or so years ago a former colleague and his spouse, visited Rwanda and went on a tour package to observe mountain gorillas in the wild. They said it was a fascinating experience from start to finish.

I would imagine. They never said and I never asked.

Sorry guys but Rwanda is objectively a shithole country.

                          So the rough breakdown is:
∙ ~91% use pit latrines (outhouses)
                          ∙ ~3–4% use flush toilets
∙ ~5–6% use unimproved facilities or open defecation

The whole reason we call them illegal aliens is because they’re subject to our laws.
