What TF happened to Mike Lee?

Who is Mike Lee and what is the video showing? At first I thought it was ICE, but I am pretty sure that they would not go that far. LOL

It's part of a big cartel violent uprising in Mexico, there are some dramatic scenes of planes leaving cities like Puerto Vallarta with people on the tarmac trying to get on, similar to Afghanistan. Tourists are told to stay put in their hotels. Pretty scary time.

Yes, and that's a video of cartel goons setting fire to a gas station. They're committing violence all over Jalisco in response to the Mexican Army's killing of the cartel leader.
Mike Lee is a senator who used to be one of these intellectual types that would do the podcast circuit talking about how Congress had shirked its duty and given too much power to the executive. (hence the 'Article I project' - Article I is the part of the constitution that describes congressional power).
Now he's whining that the other side doesn't want Federal officers to behave like drug gang hitmen.

I’m pretty satisfied that our immigration officers aren’t acting like cartel hit men. And I’m pretty satisfied that one can make fun of Minneapolis type agitators without being hypocritical about separation of powers. But I understand that those of us who think ICE are soldiers in an effectively declared war on American cities will see things differently.

I briefly saw Mike's tweet (glad I didn't use that past tense there), and think it was about masks. I understand the doxxing risks, but in general I think his comment was about how ICE folks use masks... so basically faceless, badgeless, nameless people with guns are kidnapping people (citizens and non citizens). Honestly my coffee isn't strong enough to understand what Jon is saying or Mike Lee, but in general I think it's bad policy for our law enforcement officers to be nameless and faceless as they physically take people.

If I had to weigh in on the fact that ICE and Border Patrol are wearing masks, I’d say it’s an unfortunate but entirely understandable conceit to the moral panic cosplay of Minneapolis agitator types behind their keyboards. As for the overreaches of ICE and broad characterizations of them kidnapping citizens and non citizens alike, I’m impressed that a those stories appear to be concentrated in Minneapolis while places like TX with 10x the ICE activity don’t seem to be generating any kidnapping stories. I take it all with a grain of salt. But then I’m not tribally motivated to fan the moral panic flames.
