If you want hot dishes, supper clubs, and professional sports teams with decades of winning droughts…. But at least we are set up for the climate crisis and the clean drinking water fight.

      Yes! Upper Midwest ftw!

I mean just look at all that fresh water! We are also relatively immune from natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, even, for the most part, tornadoes even though one occasionally gets through. Awesome climate in the spring and fall. Summer is usually awesome with a week or two of high temps. Winter, well, it is a quiet time, spent mostly indoors, doing things like practicing and getting better at your musical instruments, and snuggling up next to a fire with your sweetheart. What could be better than that!

They were hit with a double hurricane in November 2024, I wonder if that is related? According to my TARS, it's also because of a perfect storm (no pun intended) of inventory surplus, spikes in insurance rates, and fizzling migrations post-COVID.

@89th and I think also that since that one apartment collapsed, Florida is requiring a lot proactive repairs, etc., which can be a significant cost for each apartment. And I also think that I heard somewhere that banks were not giving mortgages for apartments, or at least being very strict.

The problem with living in the upper mid-west isn’t the weather, hot-plate, losing sports franchises, etc…

The problem is living near the type of people that would choose to continue to live in the upper north-west…

All that and it's also because of the Surfside Condo collapse near Miami in 2021. It made almost the entire inventory of high rise condos in Florida worthless. They were almost all poorly engineered, inspected and maintained and now the cost of fixing them is equal to the price of the condo itself.
