That was close

Just got dropped off at jfk with the boy. We’re heading to Vancouver tonight and later in the week SFO, LAX, and San Diego for a week of college visits.
Checked our bags, got in line for security when I realized my wallet fell out of my pocket in the uber.
This would have sucked. I already prepaid two separate rentals that I wouldn’t have been able to pick up, we would have had to arrange another flight from LAX to SAN (we’re driving that part) and I would have paid hundreds in Ubers.
As it happened uber has a quick way to reach the driver, he wasn’t far and came back. I gave him 50 plus uber charges you another 20 which goes 100% to the driver.
Disaster averted.

Modern communications rock.
He's 16, right? So you are starting college visits early, which I think is a great idea. We took Lauren when she was a sophomore. Hearing about the financial realities and how she could get lots of aid for good grades really pumped up her already good performance. I think it also helped her to see that this wasn't some far-off thing - it was real and it was closer than she thought - that's the connection we wanted. Plus she was already in a theater prep program at CCM, the UC conservatory.

Yeah I posted his baby picture a day or three after he was born.
He’s a junior so this is a decent time. He should have applications in by October or so. So this year and summer are the time for trips. He’s been to LSE, University College London, McGill, and Concordia in Montreal. I’m taking him to UBC Vancouver, Berkeley, UCLA, USC, and UCSD.
Next month we have an event in Boston so we’ll visit BU while we’re there. In April his mom takes him to Toronto, Michigan, Northwestern, and U Chicago. Later this year we’ll do day trips to Cornell and Penn. Might add Duke to the list not sure yet.
