We've had about 15" and for the last 6 hours they've been telling me we're getting another 1" in the next 24 hours. We had four in the last hour or so, so if anything it's getting worse.

    I was only joking

I’m really not looking forward to one last shoving in the dark after dinner. But I need to do it to get salt down before the ‘wintry mix’ comes

The whole reason we call them illegal aliens is because they’re subject to our laws.

He’s at his mom’s this week. I don’t make him do this unless I’m sick. His mom does.

Then again it’s never been this big a deal. I’ll probably get a small snow blower next year just to be sure it never snows again.

Probably too late for advice, but if you can leave a little snow on the ground, the ice will stay on top of the snow when you clear it. Much harder to get ice off (I suppose salt helps) if it's fused to the pavement directly.

I think I might be in line for next year's Nobel. As I worked on the roughly 3 feet of very heavy ploughed snow in front of my driveway, a lady cheerfully remarked 'It is New England, after all!', and I didn't hit her with my shovel.

We got an about 7” and then another 2” of sleet. Turned to ice over night. Yesterday, when I let Chupacabra out back to go find a goat, she kept falling into snow banks over her head. This morning, she was skating and sliding along the top…

We just had a neighborhood kid shovel our rather long - 100 feet and 12’ wide - driveway. By himself. Couldn’t be more than 13. He was a trooper. Asked for $40, I gave him $80. He was pumped, but damn - he was out there hustling for four hours. Wants to be an Eagle Scout.

I think we got 24" altogether - somebody told me we're due another 6 tonight - I'm hoping he's just yanking my chain as the office is open tomorrow.

My little battery-powered electric shovel did pretty well - I took it out 3 times. But I ended up with blower-envy as the guy across the road unleashed the beast.

I had a plow at the last house which was an upgrade from a corded electric. My problem here is that my primary shoveling is a front walk, my garage which I don't use for the car is in the back of the house with the driveway entrance on the side. So it wouldn't be practical to get a big plow up to my sidewalk. So those battery powered things look attractive to me. They're sold out now so I'll probably get one in the spring when they're cheaper anyway.

The electric thing is great for up to about 4 inches as long as it's not heavy/wet snow. It cleared our driveway earlier in the year in about 10 minutes when there was maybe 3", so if you go early and often it's really useful. It's no good with heavier stuff as it gets clogged and doesn't have the power to blow it. It only cost $350, so if it lasts 5 years I'm good.
