So this morning, the xxxx Police Department walked in on a homicide in progress, two cops got shot, they're both OK, the suspect is dead, so that's two down for the day. Now they’re out with a woman who has gone crazy, drowned one of her kids, pepper sprayed the second kid, and is trying to kill herself.
We’re having a bit of a day.

My BIL in Wisconsin was a deputy sheriff for many years but stopped working to become a nurse. He was tired of cleaning up body parts after car crashes and staying next to hanged (hung? hanging?) people waiting for the medical examiner or whatever to arrive. It takes a toll.
