    European troops arrive in Greenland

NUUK, Greenland (AP) — Troops from several European countries continued to arrive in Greenland on Thursday in a show of support for Denmark as talks between representatives of Denmark, Greenland and the U.S. highlighted “fundamental disagreement” over the future of the Arctic island.

    I was only joking

      @89th

      It’s okay….

If you looked at the map right now, would it make more sense for Greenland to be part of Canada or the USA, or part of a small European country that can’t defend anything..

Not at at all. Collective security is what the NATO Alliance is all about. Greenland falls under the umbrella of NATO.

As is the US already has near to unfettered access to Greenland for the purpose of security. Denmark and Greenland have made that clear to Washington repeatedly. Trump knows (or should know) that as should his minions and lackeys.

It is pure and simple covetous narcissism and imperialist ambition on the part of Trumpigula. There is something there he wants to claim and control all for himself very bigly and muchly.

There you go making sense again! 555

President Trump saying he wants to take over because otherwise Russia or China will is nonsense. They know that an attack on Greenland is an attack on NATO, and NATO will respond.

(I have a distant friend (Lara) who is from Greenland. Ethnic Denmark (I think) but grew in Greenland. Asked her what the mood was in Greenland. Probably 99% against becoming a colony or US state.

I'd imagine so. Offering them money won't change that and is boorish. Not that that's a surprise.

If he'd offer every Greenland citizen several million US$, I imagine they might agree. Let's say 1T$ , that would be $15 million per citizen or something.

And he’d never get the votes for that in Congress.

May be claim that it will all be self-funded by the minerals in Greenland, akin to saying it will cost American taxpayers zero to "run
Venezuela" because it will be funded by Venezuela's oil money, no Congressional appropriations needed.

Still doesn’t work. Money the US receives has to go to the treasury and be spent by Congress. There is no constitutional provision for a presidential slush account funded by plunder.

There’s grift and then there’s GRIFT!

Have a spare 1 billion USD? If you do you might want to take advantage of Donald J. Trump’s offer for your country to have permanent member seat on his Peace Board to rebuild Gaza (and possibly the future Donald’s World). Make your cheque out to Donald J. Trump today!

President Trump will ask countries that want to join his “Board of Peace” to oversee Gaza to pay $1 billion for membership, according to reporting from Bloomberg and The Atlantic on Saturday.

A draft charter seen by both outlets showed that Trump will serve as the executive board’s inaugural chairman, who will approve which member states can join on the board. The board will become official after three member states agree to the charter.

“Each Member State shall serve a term of no more than three years from this Charter’s entry into force, subject to renewal by the Chairman,” the draft reads, according to Bloomberg. “The three-year membership term shall not apply to Member States that contribute more than USD $1,000,000,000 in cash funds to the Board of Peace within the first year of the Charter’s entry into force.”

Also he’s the chairman. Personally. It survives his presidency. And only he can name the successor.

I suspect his chairmanship will be declared over by his successor.

For all that Trump is a draft dodging convicted felon and a semi-senile shite, he certainly has a knack of bring neglected important matters to the top of the world agenda.

So no force, no money. Joint effort of NATO to look after the melting Greenland territory and its important sea lanes?
