    Miller says US would be right to annex Greenland.

    “We live in a world, in the real world, Jake, that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power,” he said. “These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.”

      With abject apologies to any Germans who may read this.

        What do you mean by "unforced error"?
        I am quite convinced that what Miller said is actually what he and the Trump administration really think and believe in.

          Do you think it a wise thing to say?

            I don't think it's a wise thing to believe in, much less saying out loud.

            So do you just fault them for saying it out loud or also for believing in it too?

              @mik

              Like Ax I believe Miller’s statement is deliberate. Whether it was wise or thought through is irrelevant. It is what the vile reactionaries in the Administration, like Miller, firmly believe and are prepared to act upon.

                The death of MAGA. Which is not an entirely bad thing.

                  Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if we took over Greenland. Geographically it makes sense, and for funsies…historically this is how countries grow. We could take it over in a day, Denmark isn’t doing shit. For better or worse, Trump is showing what the USA (police of the world) can get away with. Someone said Trump could nuke Yemen tomorrow and nothing consequential would come of it. Sadly, I think that is right… who would stop us?

                      @89th

                      Did you find something you wrote 20 years ago in the Piano Forum - Coffee Room and copy it to here just for funsies?

                      Because that is exactly how you used to think out loud.

                        Ok first of all I am mostly kidding. Second of all, I am at a pub and they have a nice happy hour going.

                        But let’s have that IPA-inspired thought. If you looked at the map right now, would it make more sense for Greenland to be part of Canada or the USA, or part of a small European country that can’t defend anything.

                              The whole reason we call them illegal aliens is because they’re subject to our laws.

                                @89th

                                It’s okay….

                                If you looked at the map right now, would it make more sense for Greenland to be part of Canada or the USA, or part of a small European country that can’t defend anything..

                                Not at at all. Collective security is what the NATO Alliance is all about. Greenland falls under the umbrella of NATO.

                                As is the US already has near to unfettered access to Greenland for the purpose of security. Denmark and Greenland have made that clear to Washington repeatedly. Trump knows (or should know) that as should his minions and lackeys.

                                It is pure and simple covetous narcissism and imperialist ambition on the part of Trumpigula. There is something there he wants to claim and control all for himself very bigly and muchly.
