Dumb. Can you name me a weapon that can destroy the boat but spare the occupants? Lethality is what weapons are for. Maybe we should have dropped them some water wings and told them they had 5 minutes to get swimming.

I haven't followed the debate, but isn't the administration totally admitting that the goal was to kill the people, even the survivors, not just stop the boat? There are less lethal ways to stop the boat, yes there are nets that can clog a motor if you're close enough, and the coast guard has specific weapons to be precisely shoot/terminate onboard motors.
