We've spent ~$23,000 on food this year (so far). Not including restaurants, just the local grocery stores. Also that doesn't include any liquor or wine as they don't sell it in stores here in NY.
We've had a couple of get togethers, but we're basically a household of 2.5. My son eats like 2 people so let's call it a household of three.
As a comparison, in 2019 that number was $15.6k for three of us (much younger boy of course).
The weeks the boy isn't here, we eat fish most nights which is pricey. And we eat beef maybe half the nights the boy is here, which is up there with fish now.
But seriously that's crazy.

I have been meaning (for far too long) to see what monthly subscriptions we have and cut back some. I noticed most providers don’t remind you each month when they bill you, how convenient!

I used to religiously track expenses. I'm starting again, retroactive to 1/1/25, which is how I found this number. I don't use quicken, I have my own bespoke spreadsheet.
I always found it very useful to find bogus charges and 'accidental' subscriptions (Mayla is often guilty of this, not helped by her poor English comprehension). It will be interesting to see what I find.
