Not a single post. I am disappointed.

Of the big lake, they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead

Love this song. Can’t play the video right now as Mayla is asleep here but will watch it later.

        It is an earworm though.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

            Nice video.
I have to admit though, I can think of only one GL song:
If you could read my mind.

Hahaha I watched a documentary on it last night to learn more. It helped explain a bit more why it was such an infamous wreck. It wasn't just another boat on the lake.. it was THE queen of the great lakes.

Holy shit, you aren't kidding. That borders on perfection for a live performance of any song.

Love the violin's slow tension building from 2:07 to when it "turns" around 2:20 or so (as the lyrics shift into when the boat began to break apart), the bass switching from bow to finger then back to bow, and even the ending vocal and finale instrument harmony.

One tidbit (although unlikely) is even though the ship sank in 550 of water, it was so long that if it nose dived and hit the bottom, you'd still have about 250 feet of ship poking ABOVE the water.

                        Mandolin works is very fine.

Punch brothers are all consummate musicians. The guitarist’s father was Ben Eldridge the banjo player in The Seldom Scene. Saw him many times with The Scene; even had a coffee with him during a Bluegrass festival in Chilliwack BC close to 25 years ago.
