Personally? I don’t like cheerleaders in the NFL, period. They are essentially pole dancers, and it turns out that’s exactly how at least one NFL Team viewed/used them.
I don’t mind college cheerleaders, they are not overly sexualized and male cheerleaders are an important part of the team, especially considering some of the gymnastics, pyramids, and various other stunts… That is not what happens at the pro level. It’s essentially a T&A distraction. Still, another sign the NFL is forgetting their market…

They've done away with the grid girls in Formula 1, and it didn't make any real difference to how boring the sport is. It's probably past time to get rid of NFL cheerleaders too.

The Steelers had a squad for like 2 years back in the 60’s, but Art Rooney thought they were trashy and ruined the wholesome game…

Yeah it's dumb for all the reasons you mentioned LD. Mainly that the "male cheerleaders" the article talks about in college are actually really strong dudes who perform a function. In the NFL it's just shaking their ass and pretending they are women.
Also, at no point have I ever seen fans in an NFL stadium ever affected by the "cheer leaders" on the ground. Cheerleaders are valuable in high school, a little valuable in college, and absolutely unnecessary in the large NFL pro venue.

Patriots' cheerleaders used to visit the Foxborough middle and high schools as a PR exercise. I seem to remember my son was more impressed than my daughter, but he clearly failed the recruitment drive.

Yawn. What a big nothingburger. If they want to do this and the team wants them, what do I care. It's not a competitive situation where men have a decisive advantage.

You have a game AT Minnesoooota this year. When they cut to the Cheerleaders as they are going to commercial and you get a full view of one of those dudes shaking his moneymaker at you, you might be saying something different….
