At least it is obvious that there is no reasoning or calculation behind the numbers he uses. When he says "1200%" it merely means a very vague "I promise to do something about it", and when that promise eventually meets reality it may mean a cut by 6%, or even an increase by 4%.

What he’s saying is that he’s basically going to pay people to stay home and take drugs.

Not too different than the Carter years, really.

Any number he uses is probably wrong unless it’s a tariff rate.

Those change on an hourly basis and are on a sliding scale between 0 and 4 Brazilian percent so he can never be wrong.

Ok so the laugh is over, he’s actually done something about it. Anyone care to comment on that?

The beta test of that in San Francisco was a bit of a mess.

I don’t think he has. Just announced a plan an intent to do so.

What's he done? Is it going to be awesome?

Because to be honest, and I hate to sound ungrateful, but I'm a little tired of winning.

Has he? Or is this similar to the “I reduced egg prices by 700%” or whatever? Really wish I could believe anything he states as a fact.

He took an action. What do you think might be the result?

I don’t think he’s taken any actions yet. He sent a threatening letter about equalizing prices with Europe which would be a disaster if we implemented that in a short timeframe.

We are in an unsustainable position where the US basically pays for drug development while other countries pay something more like marginal cost. It’s like a huge trade imbalance, you want to fix it but it needs to be done over time.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

                        An equal and opposite reaction?

This is a science thread, after all.

                            We’ll see.

In his first term he campaigned on allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices. Then he got elected and Pharma rolled him in one meeting.

Biden then got it done, at least a start, with 10 drugs.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.
