Wow. He was only 76. I thought older. MFR speculated he managed his own death. Can you do that in UK?

There's a discussion in progress but it's still illegal. The Houses of Parliament voted yes to the Bill in June, but it's yet to go through the Lords.

Mrs Phibes has been keeping him posted in case he wants to throw in the towel.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Other than a couple of their songs - Paranoid and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - in the 70s, I never got into Black Sabbath as a band. Certainly never owned any of their albums. As for vocals, Ian Gillan, Robert Plant and Ronnie James Dio were much more to my liking than Ozzy. Still, he was a defining persona and stage presence of the era and beyond, despite his hell bent years of self destructive behaviour. That he didn’t implode like others at 27 years of age is beyond me.

RIP, no doubt you went out on a high note.

            Elbows up!

Yeah I figured closer to 90 at least. Didn’t he just give a concert (seating…but still, impressive)?

                RIP.

I saw him with Black Sabbath in 1978 just before he got kicked out of the band - it was their 10 year anniversary tour. The backing band was Van Halen!. It was easily the loudest gig I've ever been to, although it was my first one so maybe that affected the memory a little.
