The longest walkoff putt in US Open History…
-
Over 60 feet, in the rain, on greens that were soaked and muddy, going down one slope and up another. Incredible.

It was the longest putt made by any of the 156 players (80 or so after the cut) all tournament. That is over 8,000 holes of golf and he makes the longest putt of the whole thing... to win it.
I watched it last night and admit I was verbally loud when he made it... it was such a great way to win. He had 2 putts to win, but what great drama to make it on the first try.
For those not familiar with him, he's a "journeyman" golf pro. He's been struggling for years on the tour, losing the tour card, earning it back... working hard at local golf courses. This year he's had some good finishes including a playoff loss to Rory at "the 5th major" (Players Championship), so folks are happy for him. Worked hard, and earned it over many years of strife.
BTW, this angle a fan took I think helps really show how cool of a putt it was.

I think that golf is one of the few sports where a normal person can measure themself against the pros. One thing that amazes me is when putting, even when they miss, they miss by only a little bit.
