"You choose to take the first drink, the first drink chooses the second."

Well, @89th, I was in a sh*t state of existence at 43, in the early days of tncr. Running (totally new to me) and weight training (also new), helped with clarity, planted better habits. I gotta thank @kluurs for his wisdom, help with this. Now, occasionally, I might feel obliged to order a beer at a pub, but honestly, it’s just to toast with others; it goes unfinished. There’s zippo at home except wine that gets gifted to us. I save, crack that open for visitors. Alcohol sparks zero joy. Wasted calories.

I'm fine on workdays, as I don't drink during the week, but the weekend isn't the weekend for me without a couple of beers. And I have that problem where I end up having 3 or 4 instead of just the planned-for one. I know I should pack it in, but....
I do seem to have (mostly) got over the urge to get shit-faced, which was a well-documented aspect of my younger life.

I'm a picture of moderation. never more than 3 glasses of wine, usually 1 or 2.

Truthfully, I gotta get back to some cardio & weight training. Isolation during Covid, menopause, mourning my youth, turned me into a fat lazy hermit. I’m still in this funk.

I’m close to the @Doctor-Phibes mode, though my weekends aren’t weekends, working retail. My days off are normally in the middle of the week…

Haha some good insight here, and good quotes too. I've heard of a similar quote that was something like "One drink isn't enough, two is too many, and three is not enough."

I hd foot surgery and haven't been able to go the gym in almost three weeks. Driving me nuts.

You can go and do upper body stuff?
When I had my nasty bike accident I would do some dumbbell stuff and this stationary hand pedal thing.

I do the hand pedaling every day, but a lot of the upper body machines still require your feet to brace.

I’m told a person needs to tackle first the thing causing the most anxiety. Ha, that’s what I preach to my boyz. So, in my case, perhaps strength training & cardio needs to start with housework!

That is a powerful axiom to follow.

You (or at least I) can tell when I drink too much I make a-hole posts. I always did...either you guys never noticed or you always just assumed I'm always an a-hole.

You just kind of blended. There was no shortage of a-hole posts by all of us.

Or drunk posts for that matter.
