Seems like you missed a huge opportunity 89th. One that will never again occur. But this gives you a new opportunity - to face the crushing, permanent loss of a once in a lifetime opportunity, with dignity, and grace. These moments forge souls.

How odd, I almost watched Dunkirk last night. I didn't even make the connection.
A really gripping production and devoid of the melodrama so often afflicting war movies. As usual, Kenneth Branagh’s performance was superlative.
A fitting tribute to the determination of the British at so perilous a time in their history.

Think I’ll queue that up to watch with Lucas, tonight.

Oh God, I hope the Brexit brigade don't start going on about Churchill and Farage again.
The biggest problem with WW2 is that half of England wants to go back and live in it.

My only question is, how the hell did Trumpigula’s X rant get shoehorned into a thread about about Dunkirk?
Sick.

The USA celebrates Memorial Day on the anniversary of Operation Dynamo. Trump's post talks about Memorial Day.

Trump’s post speaks movingly about the debt and gratitude we owe to fallen soldiers. Some 1000 British soldiers died in Operation Dynamo while saving some 340k soldiers from capture or destruction by German forces.

I've already sent several draft posts to my editors, which were to be published in the coming days and weeks. I will let them know to remove the sick parts.

Trump would have won Dunkirk.
By a lot.

wrote 17 days ago last edited by RenaudaIn fact, it wouldn’t have happened if Trump were president.

It does rather taint an otherwise noble (rare?) thread.

The fuck you talking about? Trump did win Dunkirk. But it was stolen by the Brits. Or maybe the Germans.
