Frank Lloyd Wright Estate

Quick Trip to the US - while here, had a chance to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright estate in north Wisconsin. It is called Taliesin and is a UNESCO site. It was quite interesting. Family home.

Did not really know much about him. Quite an interesting individual. Had very strong ideas and was not willing to compromise. His projects (including this home) are very pretty and not so easy to live in. For example, he liked cornered windows, but wanted to keep the view unbroken, so no sealant on the joints, only bevel the glass to meet. Also, no rails on stairs because that would break the flow, etc.
However, I did receive some very good background about why he designed things the way he did. For example, low doorways/ceilings to compress and then open up to de-compress. Bring nature into the house and make it part of the surroundings rather than separate.
(You guys talked about him in a couple of other forum board threads

SP: I thought I was further north than I was. 5555
No, but I would like to hike the Ice Age Trail sometime. One of 11(?) national scenic trails in the US. Supposed to be pretty "easy" as these trails go.
