A pretty sloppy summary if you read the actual CBA agreement.

In short, Treasury (including IRS) federal employees would be eligible for telework if they met the requirements (e.g., their work is portable), and included positions such as Attorney, Tax Law Specialist, Paralegal, Tech Advisors, Budget Analysts, Legal Assistants in Finance & Management and Procedures & Administration and Management Assistants.

That's a little different than saying "IRS employees only had to show up to work in person once a week". I show up to work in person once per quarter, but still get the job done. My telework setup saves us taxpayers money, too, btw. You're welcome!

Don't care. Go to work, at least most of the week. It's my dollar you're taking.

This makes no sense. If you're concerned about your dollar, you should want me not to cost more by working in an office vs my house. And by "go to work" you mean "do the same work but from inside a building that costs taxpayers money".

When they worked from home I hope their keystrokes and mouse moves were monitored.

From the thread title I really thought this was going to about Trump(CF) going golfing once a week since becoming POTUS.

Cost to American taxpayers, so far...
              $40million

              🙄

LOL. I saw an article on this. (Probably the same one you did.). Yeah, a weekend down to Florida runs in the millions of USD. And to think President Trump was complaining about the amount of time and money President Obama spent golfing.

I can't speak for them, but I know most of the time all activity is logged. Like ALL activity. We recently fired 2 folks we found running a script to "keep their session active" to make it look like they were at the computer.

I want you working. You think those two you fired are the only slack-jackers?

If getting good value for my dollar means monitoring workers in the office, they can suck it up, buttercup.

                    Or go find another job.

I'm just saying it's going to cost you more for the same result. But if that gives you the warm and fuzzies, maybe it's worth the price!

                          Doing the maths very roughly, 40 X 4(quarters) X 4(years) = $640million

Is there a committee to approve and authorise such expenses?

                            I doubt it.

Actually, I dont have a problem with President Trump (or any other president) doing this. As I have say before, a president (or prime minister) is never really on vacation.

But it bothers me the hypocrite part of complaining about it and then doing the same thing (or more) once they are in the same position.

For those who cannot yet clearly see the big picture, Donald Trump believes the Federal workforce is part of the "deep state". This is just a form of retribution he had promised. He wants them to live in fear with the firings and the demand to go back to the office. He has created another "they're eating the dogs" myth that federal workers don't do their job while working from home. We are constantly monitored while working from home, even more so than if one's pc and they were at the office. The telework agreement was long in effect before Covid came where one has to work 2 days in the office per 2 week pay period. WhenCovid did come, we were all directed to stay at home. About 3 years ago we went back to the originial agreement. There are almost as many registered Republicans as Democrats in the workforce. 30% of us are Vets. We are just the latest boogeyman he has to create to feed the base red meat.
Personally, when telework became available to me back in 2016, I chose to work my 5 days a week in the office, thinking I would absolutely hate working from home. I do like social interactions and the office or should I say Service Center, had thousands of people in it everyday. Most IRS employees cannot telework as their job requires their physical presence in the building. I only started teleworking when my boss in St. Louis called me and told me to wrap it all up and go home right after Covid started raging .
