    Seems legit.

WASHINGTON (AP) — When President Donald Trump’s administration last month awarded a contract worth up to $1.2 billion to build and operate what it says will become the nation’s largest immigration detention complex, it didn’t turn to a large government contractor or even a firm that specializes in private prisons.

Instead, it handed the project on a military base to Acquisition Logistics LLC, a small business that has no listed experience running a correction facility and had never won a federal contract worth more than $16 million. The company also lacks a functioning website and lists as its address a modest home in suburban Virginia owned by a 77-year-old retired Navy flight officer.

Really wish I could read what is on that truck! Streetview is from 2015, but same vehicles are there in the 2012 streetview, too.

Yes totally normal for a small company with no website and only handling "small" contracts so far, to get $1.2 billion. Reminds me of this.

Eric Trump’s net worth has increased from ~40MM to around 750MM since his dad won the election.

Don Jr went from ~50MM to $500MM

Trump himself is up around $3B

            From the presidency.

I know. I know. The paintings.

Someone's jealous. Meanwhile, the politics-to-wealth pipeline has existed forever, and not just for Hunter Biden. The outsized wealth generated here is due to crypto, I assume. This is opportunistic capitalization on the zeitgeist, but not corruption per se.

              Education is extremely important.

Is it possible to "short" their crypto? I'd imagine eventually they will cash out and then let their coins crash leaving the average person in the dust, as is tradition.

It is corruption, but not illegal. Like the paintings.

Still, I think you'd find the Trump family's corruption, as measured in dollars, to exceed the sum of any and all corruption of the other 44 men who held the office combined.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

I also think the founders would have found it impossible to imagine that a president could sell access to his office and not be impeached and convicted, more or less unanimously.

                    But here we are.

But then again they also wouldn't have imagined your typical magat having the vote. They imagined gentlemen choosing our leaders.

Might just be a relationship there.

I can't actually think of very many scandals that enriched members of the president's family. Hunter Biden. Do we count Billy Beer? I'd say no, no one bought it thinking they'd get influence.

The major historical scandals - Grant's whiskey ring, Harding's Teapot Dome, enriched cabinet members, not family members. But even then the numbers are relatively tiny.

We (US) all had to learn about the teapot dome scandal - it netted 400k for the interior secretary - maybe 8MM today.

If you'd take the worst thing every president ever did, but one of the presidents does all of these things, then he didn't do anything that hasn't been done before, but it's still infinitely worse than what any of his predecessors did.

Until now, modesty has prevented me from declaring myself the most incisive, witty and intelligent poster in not just this forum, but any forum.

And nobody knows more about being incisive, witty and intelligent than me. Also, I know a lot about modesty. Some people say it's my only failing.
