Smoke from west coast fires reaches east
-
This is from my niece in NoVa:
-
-
That’s weird, it was sunny and clear (but chilly) when I took the dog for a walk at 7.
-
It could have been just plain old haze.
You can see just a little over SE VA here (of course this is real time so it will be different in a few hours):
-
I’m pretty sure that Jon’s niece is about 40-50 miles Southwest of me, it looks like she could have been picking up some of the smoke and it looks like she and you were on one side of the line and I was on the other.

She’s in Fairfax.
-
@jon-nyc Hmmm, that’s really odd, then.
Is your sister still out west?
Serious question, not a Jon’s Sister joke...
-
My sister and her husband sold the place in Front Royal and moved to Fairfax Station. The niece is 34 and was in Arlington until last fall when she and her husband bought their first house in Fairfax proper.
-
You have a 34 year old niece? Damn, you’re old! Make sure Larry doesn’t meet her!
Also, your sister’s going backwards! Most start in Fairfax and work their way west!
-
She did that already.
When I had beers with you she lived in Arlington and bought the Front Royal place as a weekend mountain house. Then they decided to live in it full time “for a few months” to save some money for a place to buy. That turned into several years. They were good and tired of the commute so they bought the place in Fairfax Station.

Well, we’re definitely seeing the haze now.
