Is there a better country song? Better lyrics? Better male country voice? I will fight you over this. Well done Carrie for staying true to the song.

For those not familiar, Randy Travis suffered a debilitating stroke some years ago.

Side note, they say the steel guitar is one of the hardest instruments to master. Love me some steel guitar in a song.

Thanks for sharing! Great song, great lyrics, love it. I didn't realize he had a stroke a decade ago, you can tell how much he enjoyed that even if he couldn't physically/articulate it.

For the lyrics... great word play, little romantic jokes, and I wonder if anyone has used it (probably) for loving words with someone going through chemo or dementia.

You may think that I'm talkin' foolish
You've heard that I'm wild and I'm free
You may wonder how I can promise you now
This love that I feel for you always will be

But you're not just time that I'm killin'
I'm no longer one of those guys
As sure as I live, this love that I give
Is gonna be yours until the day that I die

Oh, baby, I'm gonna love you forever
      Forever and ever amen
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
I'll be happy to tell you again
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
      Forever and ever, amen

They say time takes its toll on a body
Makes the young girls brown hair turn gray
But honey, I don't care, I ain't in love with your hair
And if it all fell out, well, I'd love you anyway

They say time can play tricks on a memory
Make people forget things they knew
Well, it's easy to see, it's happenin' to me
I've already forgotten every woman but you

Oh, darlin', I'm gonna love you forever
      Forever and ever amen
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
Well, just listen to how this song ends
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
      Forever and ever, amen

I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, forever and ever
      Forever and ever, amen

Side note: My nephew played steel guitar for Travis years ago, filling in for his regular guy....

Wow. Small world. Does he still perform?

Yep, but I think he's quit chasing the Nashville dream.

              @NobodySock

              Great song and video.

First learned about and learned to like Randy Travis at a job (in Nigeria no less) where I stayed in a camp and the camp manager (a Dutch guy) was a Randy Travis fan. The camp bar was the hang out place and it was almost guarantee that we would hear Randy Travis "Too Gone Too Long" at least once per night. Great memories. Thanks for bring them back.
