Everyday is now Saturday

But seriously - you may find you go out more during the week because weekends are more crowded.

@Mik I am already keen on that mode of living. My weekends of late have become more stay at home and doing yard work and house cleaning type of chores, as I don't get invited out for events anymore since I started posting political opinions on my FB with a town where 90% of my friends are all in for Trump.
Also with a heavy load of playing the greatest pc game ever, Red Dead Redemption 2. Talk about taking one back to the old west becoming the new west as it occurs near the turn of the century, but it is a glorious detailed visual game that really makes one feel like they are there and what it was like living as a outlaw living with a clan of outlaws, moving to various areas of the country to keep one step ahead of those dammed Pinkertons. I am currently about 50% of the way through and we are now residing in an abandoned mansion somewhere I would call Florida as it is swampy and there are huge gators everywhere! The town nearby is in full fledged new society of early cars mixed with horse wagons and real buildings of age and cobble stoned streets and people dressed smartly, with a big load of constables ready to gang up on me for the slightest infraction. oh, and I could talk with Jolly for hours about my arsenal of rifles and six shooters I keep as inventory on my horse. Remember, keep them firearms regularly cleaned or they lose their function quickly. -
I will never understand losing friends over differences of political opinion. It's a very sad thing.

I actually had trepidation before deciding to post such stuff. It was only after conversation with one of the most MAGA of my friends who suggested that I should have no hesitancy of posting such things because of fear of losing friends, because if they left me because of it, that was on them, not me. I took his advice and watched what I feared would happen did indeed happen very quickly. Oh well, he was right in a way, as it quickly weeded out people in my life who I considered friend. I don't lose sleep over it as a new future awaits.

@NobodySock congrats on the new lifestyle! I’ve posted before how there are so many things I’d keep busy with if I didn’t have to work.
@jon-nyc mind sharing more about your sabbatical? If it’s not too sensitive. I’d imagine it was due to the trauma in the city and perhaps knowing some who perished. What was Paris life for you on a daily basis?

well in the middle of this piano hunt, I am planning on signing up with an instructor and put much more time on the bench as I have much more freedom now. RIght now i am knee deep in trying to get my ducks in a row first for the appointment in June at the San Francisco Italian consulate to apply for the Elective Residence Visa. I am also starting to pursue another better avenue into Italy, as a full citizen. There is an Italian law that allows one to become a citizen due to Italian bloodlines. My greatgrandparents migrated to America in the early 1900's from Sicily, and I am about 25% Italian. The key is finding certain documents that some relatives may still hold to prove my legitimacy. Lot's of detective work ahead of me. I need to figure out what I am shipping over there and what will stay here in storage for a while. I have to go through a process to get my dogs certified to become Italians too. Also have some big ticket items I need to sell before the year ends, a Bayliner deck boat, a Mercedes SUV, Ford pickup, Suzuki motorcycle, Petrof grand piano. I detest selling stuff as have had hard time selling things in the past, but that extra money will come in handy to bolster my bank account. Finally, I need to have this home of mine ready for renting and procure a long term one also prior to my leaving the country in January. I have a decent Italian language app called Jumpspeak that I intend to put much more time into as well. I have also applied for retirement but not sure when they will approach me to process me out on 12/31/25. I have one sticky wicket that I have to take care of prior to retirement as well. My 4 years of active duty in the Navy can be added to my total federal retirement as long as I make my "military deposit" payment. They take the total income I made in the Navy , 3% of it is the cost. I have round about idea of what I made then only from looking on Social Security website, but that will not suffice and I have submitted a request to the Navy for my pay records. Once I receive that, I then send that to the retirement people who will determine my bill. I didn't make much as an enlisted and I did some math and it looks like the deposit bill was about $1000. But since I have not made that payment yet, interest has accrued over 35 plus years and doing some more math, I am now looking at a bill of over $6000! Still, it is a no brainer to buy as I calculated that that 6K pays for itself in only 1 year of pension difference between 41 years vs 37 years. Oh, then there's this western PC game I have become fond of. I get up out of my chair with a numb ass sometimes I'm on it so long. lol! Last year, was my first year of my life that I didn't play competitive hardball. My right knee told me he's had enough and now my buds are all getting together already , throwing the ball and taking cuts and infield/outfield in preparation for the new season. I miss it but I don't miss having a sore knee from spring to fall too. Everyone's doing this pickleball now and it looks potentially harmful to the knee plus it looks teh gay as well.

Just finished my first week of "work" being placed on administrative leave with pay until 12/31/25. It was a bit surreal as you can imagine, with waking up every morning, instinctively walking over to my work laptop (ooops! it's not there!) and logging in to work. That quickly eroded into sleeping in and waking up wondering what the hell day of the week it was. I guess for all intents and purposes, I am retired and every day for the rest of my life is now called Saturday!
My next paycheck will complete any questions still unresolved with this deal as many many thousands refused the offer for only the reason they believed those folks would get stiffed and not payed. I will know the answer to that question this coming Friday.@NobodySock said in Everyday is now Saturday:

A friend of mine says that when he retires, he is going to throw a party but have it on a Sunday evening. LOL
