It has to be tough on the family, and the politician also. In general, people like to be liked.
But no matter what a politiician does, ~50% of the population will hate you.
As to the Kennedy center, I dont know much about it, but I would think it would be a general "cross section" of the US. Not sure why otherwise.

Kennedy Center sucks as a venue, anyway. Strathmore is by far the best venue in the area.
Beyond that, the arts have ling had a leftward lean, and the KC has always played to that for years. It’s the rich white educated woman syndrome that @Horace has wisely pointed out.
Still, it’s classless.

Indeed, and if Vance were to attend a concert in another country right now at least there would have been tomatoes served with the jeers. All a matter of protocol.
