Did you take all of these? They are absolutely fantastic.

BTW...I think I tried tofu once and it was gross. But that pic doesn't look too bad, and I believe it's a pretty darn healthy food (high protein, low sodium, vitamins...), might be nice to find a tasty tofu option.

Nice pics. I'd love to try the tofu place. I like the stuff and often get it instead of meat in Thai dishes.

Tofu isn’t bad but you gotta give it texture which requires a lot of fuss. I’ve made it several times and honestly it’s not worth it. Ordering it out is fine.

As I mentioned in another post, I was in Taiwan over the holidays and part of January. Thought I would add a few pictures to this forum thread rather than start a new one. LOL

                        IMG_4051.JPG

Taipei 101, the tower that Alex Honnold is going to climb. Typical Taipei winter weather.

                        8R3A4935.JPG

Yangming Shan (Yangming Mountain). Close to Taipei, but does get high enough that it can actually get some snow once in a while. (Funny story - taking a bus up the mountain and I think that the driver got paid by how fast he went, not necessarily if he got every one there safely!! LOL. Wow - it was quite the ride!! On the way down, was going to catch the bus, but it was packed and I couldn't get on. Turned out to be lucky, as I saw it was the same bus driver!!)

                        IMG_4144.JPG

                        8R3A5314.JPG

From the east side of Taiwan, somewhat near Taitung. Very "rugged" part of Taiwan with a lot of mountains and ALOT of wind. The bridge in the 8 dragon hump bridge, which connects to a small island. At the top of the small island is a lighthouse. The top picture is from the lighthouse. Wasn't sure I was going to make. Quite the trek.

                        8R3A5153 2.JPG

                        Mr. Brown Avenue.

"*What’s so remarkable about the road stretching out ahead of me is that it’s totally unremarkable: it’s a standard two-way country road stretching towards the distant hills. Tucked in a quiet corner of Taiwan’s rural township of Chishang in Taitung County, Kam Sun Road 3 is the type of place that most people would only end up on if they made a wrong turn.

But decades ago, a location scout for the East Asian nation’s most popular canned coffee, Mr. Brown Coffee spotted its effortless beauty. Rice paddies flank the asphalt road, and rich green grass dances in the breeze as the sun’s rays bathe the valley with a warm glow. Taiwan has no shortage of rice fields, but this place is unique in that the views here are unobstructed. There are no street lamps or utility poles—just a sea of shimmering grass.*"

It is very pretty. (PS. I cannot find a link to the original commercial, but I will try and find it.)

                        IMG_9832.JPG

About 4% of the population in Taiwan is Christan. Not sure if that is Jesus climbing the side of the church, but I thought it was funny to have Santa on a church. (PS. For the first time in 25 years, Dec 25th was a holiday in Taiwan, called Constitution Day. Had this holiday when I was younger, then it disappeared and now it is back. It shares the same day as Christmas, but there was very little signs of Christmas at all. You would never really know it is happening. Some decorations in shopping malls, etc. but not much.)

                        IMG_1130.JPG

Had an earthquake. Happened just after 11pm. It was a 7.0 off the NE coast. I was in the south central/southeast part of the country. Felt some shaking and made me a bit nervous, but fortunately, nothing more than that. Actually got the warning before I felt the shaking. The warning comes through all mobile phones and is accompanied by an obnoxious alarm to get your attention.

Love Mr. brown Road. Lovely vista. The 8 hump bridge is a bit odd, more fun to look at than to walk.

Unfortunately, just found out that the restaurant Tokyo Shiba Toufuya Ukai is closing at the end of March. Their restaurant page said it was because of the end of their lease. It is on pretty big amount of land, and I am guessing that the land owners wanted more money than the restaurant could (or wanted) to pay.
