    @jon-nyc LOL

As has been discussed many times here, businesses and economies want some sort of certainty. This is the opposite of that.

Maybe we should start a separate forum pool on the first cabinet minister to leave (or be kicked out).

Not sure we need a "China Tariff Situation Gets Its Own Thread" (at least not yet! LOL), so will post this here.

China has warned the US it is ready to fight "any type" of war after hitting back against President Donald Trump's mounting trade tariffs.

The world's top two economies have edged closer to a trade war after Trump slapped more tariffs on all Chinese goods. China quickly retaliated imposing 10-15% tariffs on US farm products.

"If war is what the US wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we're ready to fight till the end," China's embassy said on X, reposting a line from a government statement on Tuesday.

I dont get it. Pardon my language, but piss off your friends, piss off enemies. I guess the next step is to piss off people in your own country.

Trump just posted these two statements following a telephone conversation with the Dauphin on his Truth Social Platform:

Justin Trudeau, of Canada, called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs. I told him that many people have died from Fentanyl that came through the Borders of Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped. He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, “That’s not good enough.” The call ended in a “somewhat” friendly manner! He was unable to tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here? I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!

        https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114111155189097825

        Followed by this one:

For anyone who is interested, I also told Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada that he largely caused the problems we have with them because of his Weak Border Policies, which allowed tremendous amounts of Fentanyl, and Illegal Aliens, to pour into the United States. These Policies are responsible for the death of many people!

        https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114111166145299229

My sole comment on first tweet/post is that Trumpigula must have no clue whatsoever on Canada’s parliamentary system operates. I don’t know whether he is clueless out of choice, badly briefed, doesn’t want to be briefed or just suffers from ignorance borne of stupidity.

I believe it to be ignorance borne of stupidity.

Again the straw man fentanyl and illegal aliens argument. Always playing the victim, the lying bastard he is.

Si diabolus mendax et homcidia non esset!

        Elbows up!

This constant referral to Governor Trudeau is so childish. Does the silly twat honestly believe people are laughing along with him every time he repeats it?

          I was only joking

I think Lutnick is, like a schoolyard sycophant laughing at the bully's lame jokes.

(I think it's Lutnick who is always near trump laughing at his jokes during press conferences?)

              @Doctor-Phibes

Peter Navarro said on an interview either yesterday afternoon this morning that Trumpigula was offended yesterday morning when Trudeau, during his address to Canadians, referred to him as “Donald” and repeated the WSJ headline before going on to announced retaliatory tariffs.

Seems that TrumPIGula is really as thin skinned as people have said when his unmitigated BS is called out.

He has been regularly on the news here making no sense whatsoever of the alleged reasons for the punitive sanctions. His explanations all over the board and contradictory from one day to the next reflecting the chaos emanating from Oval Office.

Today it is being reported that Lutnick called Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, and told Ford to walk back his threat that Ontario might levy a 25% surcharge electricity into the US. Ford refused and the became quite “heated and terse”. Ford today is still not backing down from earlier statement that electricity is not off table for an added provincial surcharge or even dialling down the delivery of power

Well I guess not that surprised…

                        No big deal.

Well the CEO’s of Ford, GM and Stellantis pushed back and were granted a 30 day postponement on tariffs on all vehicles manufactured under CUSMA to which the US is legally still bound to adhere.

I think the auto industry read Trump the riot act and he blinked. He’s now looking for a way to extricate himself the legal black hole he been taking the country.

One of the bugs, or if you’re Trump, features, of tariffs is the opportunity for corruption by granting exceptions.

Remember when the government wasn’t supposed to pick winners and losers?

Does anyone have any principles or is everything post-hoc rationalizations?

Well the CEO’s of Ford, GM and Stellantis pushed back and were granted a 30 day postponement on tariffs

That is sooooo fortunate. They should be able to build the necessary suppliers and plants in the US in the next 30 days. 555

If not that, then it will give the auto makers’ legal teams extra to put the finishing touches on their lawsuits challenging the Trump regime’s rationale to invoke the sanctions against their industry’s well established and cost efficient supply chain management system.

Apparently, the Trumpigula regime doesn’t understand that laissez-faire implies the exact opposite of government micro-management of private industry.

Hopefully Canada will put export taxes on the potash.

That would be only done at the request or acquiescence of the Government of Saskatchewan. I don’t see that happening at present, although that could change very quickly.
