Assuming these numbers are correct, where's the problem, exactly?

IIRC, as the Southern Border tightens, fentanyl shipments from Canada are increasing.

To be honest, I think the actual problem with fentanyl is the fact that so many people really want to take it. I don't think that playing whack-a-mole attempting to close the holes is going to solve the drug problem.

And really, can't we admit that we all know that blaming Canada for this situation is bullshit?

The thing about such heavy-handed tactics is they might work initially, but eventually the bluster will wear thin and be seen as just that, especially if he continues to bluster then back down. I am hoping this is just to get some action on immigration and then we can use Rubio in a more sophisticated approach.

But then I was hoping he'd be more presidential. I don't know.

He's been considerably worse than I expected, and I wasn't optimistic. I'm guessing it will probably calm down soon once he voids himself of all these bright ideas he's been cooking up over the last four years.

              But to your statement…..

so are shipments of illegal firearms increasing from the US into this country. IIRC, US authorities have shown a combination of passive indifference or in some instances, outright reluctance in doing their part in addressing the firearm smuggling issue. Apparently not a top priority; may be they view it as a 2nd Ammendment right.

                  😆

                  In other news….

Ukrainian and Polish Canadians are banding together and calling on all their fellow Canadians to denounce the introduction and appointment of any type of “Czar” to Canada. Stan Kowalski of the Dom Polski braterstwo Kapustew’ was quoted as saying, “a Czar cannot be trusted, he first takes your bread, then your salt and finally your soul. Never trust a Czar especially one whose name sounds like that kurwa, Fentanilov”. Orest Tkachuk of the Ukrainian Holoptsy and Kielbasnik Producers Board echoed Mr. Kowalski’s sentiments with a terse, “Czar khuiya!” and made a universally recognized obscene arm gesture associated with sticking a foreign object up your bottom.

Some US lawmakers are pushing back against Trump tariffs against Canada.

I actually love Canada. My comment was really directed at one stick-up-his-ass loudmouth, low-class Canadian, and he was actually clever enough to figure it out right away.

                                Trumpigula says next week:

U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday he will go forward with a 25 per cent tariff on most imports from Canada next week, saying the country has ripped off the U.S. for too long and it's time to put a stop to it.

                                https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trump-tariffs-next-week-1.7467202

I trust that the Yankee Moses knows that he is single-handedly destroying any chances the Conservative Party of Canada will form the next federal government in this country.

                                  Be careful beer drinkers!

                                  https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/02/25/chicago-craft-brewers-aluminum-tariffs/

For the craft beer industry, which depends heavily on aluminum cans from Canada, the 25% increase will hit hard, according to Klein. Spiteful Brewing annually sells nearly a half-million cans of beer, which it distributes to retailers throughout the Chicago area.

                                  and

“For us, in packaging, it’s probably the most expensive part of what’s in a six-pack,” he said.

A typical Spiteful six-pack sells for $11.99 on store shelves, Klein said. He expects the retail price to go up at least $1 per six-pack after the tariff hits.

I imagine it would be the same increase for soda pop cans.

I guess Trumpigula cares little for the security of his country’s mineral supply:

“I look at some of these agreements,” he said. “I’d read them at night and I’d say, ’Who would ever sign a thing like this?’ So the tariffs will go forward, yes, and we’re going to make up a lot of territory.”

The Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement was negotiated during the first Trump administration to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement. Trump described it at the time as the “best agreement we’ve ever made.”
