Yeah. Part of it is placement. But some of it is random like having your favorite burner on the stove.

Now that I think about it, that’s a little more rational. Front is easier to reach, and if you’re right handed you generally prefer the right side (arm is over the counter not the stove when you cook) and left side if you’re a lefty.
