      If I remember correctly, there is a device next to your left knee that is used to steer the landing gear. The wheels can be aimed on a heading quite different from the nose of the airplane.

      I worked with a B-52 pilot, he told me about it one time. It sounds like it was really fun.

        Yeah the reddit folks said the wheels can be pointed up to 20 degrees from center to "sideways" land the plane. The landing gear wheels near the tips of the wings probably help, too.

          Wow. My Dad worked on those in the 50s and 60s. Not the airframe, but the electronics.
