I always thought it was "Forest Gump" but these are worthy alternatives.

    Others in the list:

    • Shakespeare in Love
    • Crash
    • Dances with Wolves (won over Goodfellas)
    • Out of Africa
    • Driving Miss Daisy
    • Moonlight
    • Shape of Water
    • Nomadland
    • Argo - " Not that is was particularly bad, it was just so unremarkable."
    • How Green Was My Valley beat Citizen Kane

It’s hard to comment because I’ve seen either none or one of those. (I vaguely remember a scene from driving miss daisy but that could have been from a trailer).

But I saw Forest Gump and I agree about that one. Though I’m happy for Hanks to have won best actor, if he did.

By the way Spike Lee is still pissed that Driving Miss Daisy won the year his first hit came out. Jungle Fever was it? Or a different one?

I think it might have been Do The Right Thing

If DEI is ever completely wiped from the face of the earth, it will be the Academy Awards that marks the end.

It won over "Shawshank Redemption." The acting was as good, and a much, much better movie.

And not nearly as supid silly.

King's "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" is a fun novella.

Shakespeare beating Saving Private Ryan was always a clear travesty IMO.

                I liked Crash btw.

Driving Miss Daisy was our first date.

Does Miss Daisy consider it a date?

I thought Nomadland was quite good. Did not realize that it won best picture.
