    Gould on Beethoven.

Interesting to listen to the Emperor Concerto piano part alone. He hums the orchestral part.

    Go to about 7:40

Aside - I think this was broadcast on national TV in 1966.

Today we have the Kardashians and Dr. Now.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Also, @horace, didn't you play the C-minor sonata?

I was curious so I looked up the BBC guy interviewing Gould. He’s still alive. Born just a few months after my dad. (Early 31, my dad was born in late 30)

One of the reasons I came to like classical music as a teen was watching his CBC TV presentations and lectures. He certainly opened the door to 20th century music for me. The CBC programme on which he featured Webern and Hindemith’s music were great.

          Elbows up!

@George-K said in Gould sings and sometimes makes sense:

Yep. My least successful recital performance. I didn't love the piece, didn't prepare too well, and the result was not much of musical value. I stopped playing for several years after. One of these days I'll tackle another beethoven sonata.

            Education is extremely important.
